October already?

I just can't believe I posted in January and it is now October. What does one person do with all their time? Yep, that is the million dollar question. Things have been busy at our house all summer and fall.

Landon turned 5 in August. Wow, that was adjustment for me. He is in the 4k program at the school. He was only two days from the Kindergarten cut off and everyone I talked to told me that we wouldn't regret keeping him out of kindergarten until next year, so we will see. I am glad we didn't send him either as his half days right now are beating him up. I am not sure what the transition would have been to full day five days a week would have been like. He has made a new friend Ethan and that is all he talks about. :) So, with school he has been excited about being a Ninja for Halloween. All he does is play with the sword or banging on something as though it is the drums. Christmas could be interesting as I am not sure what to get him other than a kid's drum set as that is all he does. Landon lost his first tooth and the second bottom one is ready to fall out soon. We believe he swallowed the first one though cause we could not find it anywhere. He would not allow the tooth fairy to come into his room either, so the bowl had to sit on the kitchen counter. In the morning he was not interested in the "coins" that the tooth fairy left for him, but super excited to see a doughnut sitting there (which had been on the counter for 3 days prior). Does make for funny stories though when he tells everyone the tooth fairy brought him a doughnut. The dentist didn't find it too funny though. (GRIN)

As for Luke and I... well, we are all good. Celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary tomorrow. Fall is Luke's busy time at work so he has been working Saturday's this month and before you know it, he will be laid off. (UGH) So, take it with a grain of salt and keep plugging along is all we do. Work for me is the same. Pretty slow still, but it is a job. Nothing too exciting in my world. Just thankful for what we have and enjoy what is to come. There are many projects I would like to get at, but with projects you need money and with the winter nearing, we have to get fuel in the house so we can heat it up, so I guess all those projects will be on hold. Maybe that will allow me to get going scrap booking and make some headway on that stack of pictures. Oh, I think I am dreaming and wishing all at the same time. :)

New Year Already!!

Luke and Landon waiting outside for Santa to arrive via Fire truck.

Landon Bowling for the first time.

I am just in shock that we are sitting in the middle of January already. Christmas and the new year are here and gone. Scary! I haven't blogged in a very long time. Not sure I even know what has gone on. HA!

Christmas was very exciting this year. Landon couldn't get enough Rudolph and Santa talk all month of December. I was very excited to be able to take the Christmas CD out of the player in the car though. Goodness, Santa coming to Town was on automatic repeat every morning and every night. I think it is wore out. Landon would see an airplane up in the sky and with blinking red lights on them, he would scream "there is Rudolph". It was cute and fun until about the last week, since then I had to come up with reasons why he wasn't stopping yet and why he was still just flying around. Landon did very well with Santa, however he only asked for one item and that was a Lightning McQueen track with the cars to race on the track. Yep and of course that was after I was pretty much done shopping for him. So, nothing I had bought with anticipation that might be what he asked Santa for was what he wanted. UGH. So back to the store. So, needless to say, he got a little spoiled this year. It was fun though. He also got a portable drum thingy, so it is official I have gotten my stick candles back as they are no longer the "cool" drum sticks.

I also turned 30 the day after Christmas as well. Yep, that is about all I can say about that one. Not sure I like being 30, but I have no choice. It was a birthday party that I have never really had before and yeah, that is all I can say about it.

So the New Year has lead us off to many activities. Landon has been enrolled in Swimming Lessons at a swim school. Luke and I went this past Monday to watch him and we did get a chuckle out of it. He wears goggles and the whole bit. It was funny. He is very social that is for sure. He told me after his lesson that he didn't want to go back because they made him get is face in the water. So, this Monday will be interesting. We also signed him up for pre-K wrestling through the B-W Youth wrestling club. Might be a little young, but that is all he wants to do is wrestle and loves watching his cousin Joe wrestle. So we will give it a shot. It is an hour a week for him as I don't think we will put him in the tournament as I can't imagine he will do much. He is extremely excited and keeps asking if it is Thursday yet cause he has to wrestle. So, tomorrow night will be interesting.

That is about it with us. Luke is now laid off until hopefully only the early part of March, but that is me hating unemployment. I am sure he would like to be laid off until May or so. I am still at the County, but would like to find a different position within the County. So, that is a goal of mine for the year. We will see how far that gets me. Luke has made me a make-shift scraping set up in our basement so I am able to have all of my stuff out and more room to work down there. I even have a t.v. My Mom bought my sister-in-law and I the Cricut expression so I am anxious to get that all out and start scraping away. I also plan to get Landon's book all caught up by the time he turns 5. That means I only have until August. YIKES!! So we will see how far I get. :)

We are know going to start looking at our options for the 4-year old Kindergarden classes in Baldwin. Landon will be eligible for September to start. Depending on what our daycare provider decides to do with her business. They might move. :( We have decided to hold Landon until age 6 before he starts Kindergarten since he has such a late birthday. Man, where does the time go? Going to be 5 this year.

The road life takes...

It has been a long time since I have been here to post. A lot has come and gone since April, but first off where in the world did summer go? I can't believe we are sitting on September 1st already. But, what do you do.
Landon turned 4 on Sunday and man, he sure does think he is some big boy now. He is talking non-stop and he is a sports junkie. His birthday was all about sports this year. Baseball helmet, a real bat, baseballs, soccer ball, soccer net, real golf clubs, golf glove and balls. He is just not sure what he should do first. He is very into music right now as well. He received Lincoln Logs last Christmas and those now have become his drum sticks. Yep, he goes crazy when he hears Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, and Chicken Fried, and yes my favorite, Sugarland. He can pick a song on the radio with one note being played. "Mom it is your favorite song." Needless to say we don't have a dull moment usually. He has started pre-school this week and is sooooooo excited. I can't wait to see what he brings home after learning a couple of days during the week. He got his backpack and markers, colored pencils and Kleenex and you would think he won the lottery. It is so fun to watch him get so excited. He will be doing pre-school this year and hopefully 4 year old Kindergarten next year as we are not sending him to Kindergarten until he is six. I think he will be ready next year, however; I have been told by a lot of people that we would never regret holding him back a year especially when it comes to sports and academics since he is a boy. So, I am taking their word for it and holding off. Keeping him my baby as long as I can. :)

With this lovely economy we are in right now, Luke and I are both not sure where our jobs may take us. He has been extremely slow this year, which is only going to make our winter harder with him being laid off so that will be interesting. I just got the news last week that our office has to eliminate one staff position by January 1, starting the 2010 budget. So, I am pretty sure I am on the chopping block for that. Can't wait to get that news thrown in my face. There is a chance though that it isn't me, but I am having my doubts that it will be anyone else. So, I am looking around and seeing if there are any other options internally. There is one option that I will have but it will be a pay cut and I will have to take it if no other positions open up. I guess it is a job and my benefits are still in tack, so that is a plus.
With that, we are trying to get all of our ducks in a row this fall. Such as new tires on my car, that is happening this week, we are re-shingling our roof this weekend, we are filling up our fuel tank for heat this winter. So, hopefully that will be all our fall duties and we will survive the winter.

Hope this finds everyone doing well and not hitting any big bumps in the road and life is doing you well. Hope everyone has a great fall and prepares for winter. I have attached a few pictures from our summer. It includes our trip to Miller Park in Milwaukee, Como Zoo, splashing around outside, Dentist, etc.

Here I am...

I thought I was going to get so much better at posting some blogs with updates and I think I have just proven that I was way wrong. It was almost March the last time I blogged and now it is almost May. Where in the world does the time go?

Well, we are in the spring of things... Luke finally got called back to work and that is fantastic. Now if the work load would just increase. Unemployment is no fun, but it is worse when you put in a full week and make less than unemployment, that is even more depressing. So, say your prayers that things turn around. :) Things for me at work are slow as well. It makes for some extremely long days, but I know I still have a job and it isn't going anywhere and I am thankful for that.

We have begun the good old summer projects list around home. We have purchased a new front door and we are in the process of painting that and getting that all up and make the house look a little better. Starting to work on the yard and getting the garden planted. Landon is soooo excited about the garden. He has been learning about planting seeds and watching the grow. For instance, his sunflower seed that was planted at school, and we have it sitting on our counter by the window and it is growing pretty rapidly, he gets sooooo excited when he sees the sprout sticking out of the glass. He wants to water it daily, he does not get the concept of too much water, so I have to pretend that it is getting water every day. Oh to be that innocent and excited over something so simple. I would kill for those days.

Landon never ceases to amaze us on a daily basis. He is really starting to enjoy "Mom and Dad" music meaning country. He picks up the lyrics so fast, it is just funny. He makes up his own names for the songs and wants to hear them immediately. Not grasping the concept of we are not sure when we are going to hear it on the radio. His favorite has been Zac Brown Band - Chicken Fried, Jason Aldean - She's Country, Brooks and Dunn - Cowgirls Don't Cry, and his all time favorite is Joey & Rory - Cheater, Cheater! Something to be so proud of.

Landon got a new bed and for the first time ever he has been sleeping in his bed nightly all night. He might wake up for some water or to be covered up again, but otherwise it has been a success. Yippee.

Our summer is gearing up. May comes the first parade of the summer in Woodville, and Landon is very excited about that as after the parade he gets to go to the tent and listen to music and dance away. And Memorial day we have the Twins/Brewer game at the Dome. Landon loves that. Then June comes birthdays and Luke and I are heading to Country Fest. That will be an adventure. July as of this point, is pretty low key, and then August is Milwaukee for a brewer game and the big boy turns 4. Man, then summer is over. Hopefully I will post more frequently now and get some more pictures updated.

Wow, it is almost March

Well, now that I haven't posted anything since December. I am getting worse and worse at this game. Where should I start....
1. We made it through Christmas. Luke did very well after losing his Father. There is still a lot of clean up to do, but we are working a little at a time.

2. January we had a benefit in memory of David and we were all just extremely floored at the turnout the people that donated and showed their support. We were beyond thankful.

3.February was a busy month with us doing many extracurricular activities, from a Euchre tournament to bar stool races. Oh, yes, bar stool races. Seriously was crazy. We had a BLAST. even the bruise that is just finally starting to disappear off my leg. It was a great time and we did it sort of a tribute to David as it was at Kyote's so it got us back down to that neck of the woods.

4. Now that my blog makes it sound as though we have neglected our son, I will tell you that he is growing leaps and bounds. Through all of this time, he spent some time with his Aunt Melissa and Uncle Chad as they are like his favorite people in the world. Not to mention Joe and Kelsie. We spent a Sunday afternoon sledding down at Wintergreen. Let me tell you I am not a kid again. Holy cow that was a steep hill to be climbing up with all the gear on.

5. A few new things Landon has been telling us are:

* He recites the months of the year. Struggles a little after August, but does know them
* Loves the Country Songs: Joey & Rory - Cheater, Cheater. Like recites it. Also loves Zac Brown Band: Chicken Fried. Recites most of that as well.

* Wonders how come his cousin Amaya is getting a baby sister but he isn't?
* Eats us out of the house with salad, veggies/dip, watermelon, spaghetti, and SUBWAY
* He has a Grandma Kathy and Grandma Sue (because we didn't know)

* He can do everything himself i.e. brush his teeth, get dressed, wash face, etc. Something so simple and it takes so long.

Well, that is a little glimpse of us in the last few months. Here are a couple of pictures of us sledding.

Mom, Landon, and I getting ready to head down the hill. What a full load on the sled.

Landon and Kelsie just chillin on the top of the hill as it was a big hike up.

Holiday Blues

Well, where to begin. Our December has been a rough one. We lost another family member on Wednesday. That being Luke's Dad, David. He had a long hard 9 week battle of cancer and his last two weeks have been very rough and painful. He went peacefully early Wednesday morning. Everyone is doing okay, it is just still a shock to realize it had only been 9 weeks since we found out about the cancer.

Please hang onto your loved ones this Holiday season and enjoy every minute, because you just don't know when life changing event or news you may get the following day.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas!

It's Official

It is Official. Landon is completely potty trained. No more pull-ups at night. We have gone two weeks with no accidents at night. Holy Moly, I can't believe it!!! He just thinks it is so awesome as well. He has gotten up once in the middle of the night to go potty. Otherwise we just make sure that he goes potty right before bed and he is good to go. No more runs to Target to get overnight pull-ups. I even have a few left over. I am sure that he might take a step backwards or have an accident here or there, but as of now, I am thrilled. I truly can't believe how grown up he is. The things he says, does, and remembers just blows my mind occasionally. It is crazy. He is very good with music lately. He remembers a song by a note or two played at the beginning. He is crazy about the Zac Brown Band's "Chicken Fried" and Joey and Rorie's "Cheater Cheater". SO, that song might not be the best for him to LOVE but it he goes CRAZY! Now of course all I hear is that I better have another one, but I guess that just doesn't excite me at this time. I am content where we are right now. Maybe after winter this year or something, but not right now.

Here is a picture from Halloween. He definitely enjoyed himself this year too.
